Supreme Court permits interim bail to Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court allowed an interim bail of 30 days to Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra. Chandra had been in Delhi’s Tihar jail since August 2017 after getting arrested over charges of cheating and duping home-buyers. The Apex court, benched by Justice DY Chandrachud, granted Chandra’s plea on grounds of his parents’ health conditions as they both have tested positive for COVID-19 infection. Sanjay Chandra‘s father is currently in the ICU of Max Hospital while his mother, a gynecologist, has also been hospitalized.
