Government extends ITR filing date by 10 days

On Wednesday, the government again extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2019-20 (assessment year 2020-21). The Finance Ministry said that in view of the challenges faced by the taxpayers in fulfilling their statutory compliance due to Coronavirus pandemic, the government has extended the dates for various compliances. For the individual taxpayers, now the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2019-20 is 10 January, 2021 instead of 31 December, 2021. Whereas the deadline for companies to file ITR has been extended by 15 days to 15 February, 2021.
