Cabinet approves 4-year moratorium for telecom companies, 100% FDI allowed

Some major decisions were taken on Wednesday in the cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi. Apart from approving the PLI scheme for the automobile sector, the government has allowed 100% FDI in the telecom sector and a moratorium of 4 years on spectrum charges and AGR dues have been approved. Minister of Communications Ashwini Vaishnaw made these announcements in a press conference today. He said that today the cabinet has approved a total of 9 structural reforms and 5 process reforms. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of Rs 26,058 crore was approved for the auto, auto parts and drone industry. Announcing this, IB Minister Anurag Thakur said that the purpose of PLI scheme is to encourage domestic manufacturing and generate employment.
