Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the budget of FY 2021-22 on Monday. During the budget speech, the Finance Minister has announced Rs 35,000 crore for the development and manufacturing of the Coronavirus vaccine for the coming year. She said that in the financial year 2021-22, more than Rs 2,23,000 crores was allocated for the health sector, which is 137% more than the previous financial year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the centrally-sponsored new Scheme ‘Aatmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana’ will be launched under which Rs 64,180 crores will be spent in 6 years. Under this scheme, 7,000 primary health centers along with more than 11,000 urban health centers will be upgraded and 17 new Central Health Institutions will be built in the country.
