Amazon to acquire MGM studio in $8.45 billion deal

Jeff Bezos’ Amazon has bought the famous Hollywood studio MGM for $8.45 billion. MGM was founded on 17 April 1924 by Marcus Loew and Louis B. Mayer. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, better known as MGM, is one of the largest and the most iconic studios in Hollywood that has produced films like the ‘James Bond’ franchise, ‘Basic Instinct’, ‘Creed’, ‘Moonstruck’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Silence of the Lambs’, ‘Rocky,’ The ‘Pink Panther’, ‘Tomb Raider’, etc. The studio has also won more than 180 Oscars and over 100 Emmy Awards. The deal will strengthen Amazon Prime Video with the addition of 4,000 films and 17,000 TV shows of the studio.
